What is Human Resources (HR)?
Human Resources (HR) Departments are primiarly responsible for personnel sourcing, hiring, training, talent development, employee benefits administration. HR Departmants must also ensure that all such practices are in compliance with applicable laws and regulations. In short, the HR Group is responsible for the business-related wellbeing (to a certain extent) of its 'customers' - the employees of the company. Since HR departments are primarily focused on maximizing employee productivity and protecting the company from any issues that may arise from the workforce, they are typically seen as an essential, if not critical, component of any business, regardless of the organization's size. HR Departments may also be resposible for payroll processing, however this task is often carried out within the Finance Department or outsourced to a third party.
